At the Day Care Society of Edson, our team is the heart of what makes us special. From our Board of Directors, our passionate Manager, our skilled Directors, dedicated Educators, and caring Day Home Providers, each member plays a vital role in fostering a nurturing and educational environment for the children in our care. We work together to ensure that the children and families we serve receive the highest level of support, guidance, and care.

Manager & Directors

Our Managers lead the daily operations of our daycare and ensure everything runs smoothly. They work closely with our staff to maintain a positive, welcoming atmosphere, and they are always available to support both children and families. Their experience in early childhood education, management, and customer service ensures that our programs meet the highest standards of quality.

Mary-Anne Bittner - Society Manager

Mary-Anne comes with over 25 years in the field of human services. A professional focused on empowering children of all abilities, a strong community advocate and passionate manager committed to making all support inclusive.

Alyx Sheehan - DIRECTOR Hinton Children's Learning Centre

Alyx has been a dedicated member of our Society since November 2010, beginning her career as an Office Administrator. Over the years, her passion and love for Early Childhood Education inspired her to pursue further training in the field. First, earning her Level 2 Early Learning and Child Care Certificate with Distinction from Portage College in September 2021, followed by her Level 3 Early Learning and Child Care Diploma with Distinction in June 2022. She has proudly served as our Director since then.
Alyx is deeply passionate about supporting children's learning, exploration, development and their rights as capable individuals and Mighty Learners. She believes in fostering an environment where every child feels valued, respected, and empowered to explore and discover the world around them.
Originally from Toronto, Alyx has called Hinton home since 2009 and couldn't imagine raising her family anywhere else. She is a proud mom to two children and brings both her professional expertise and personal experience as a parent into her leadership and advocacy for quality child care.

Crystal McGeough - DIRECTOR Whitecourt Early Learning and Childcare

Crystal was born and raised in Vancouver. She loves the ocean and spent many days there as a child with her family.
She is a fur mom to three cats Roxy, Penelope, and Daisy, they are her world.
She enjoys doing crafts like painting, making miniature worlds, and most recently wool felting.
Crystal has been working with children for the last 16 years, 11 as the Director of WELCC.

Educators

Our team of Educators is at the core of everything we do. They are highly trained and passionate about providing exceptional care and fostering the development of each child. They work closely with families to create individualized plans for each child, ensuring their unique needs are met and that their growth is supported.

Day Home Providers

Our Day Home Providers offer an additional layer of care and personalized attention for children who thrive in smaller, home-like settings. Each provider is carefully selected, trained, and supported by the Day Care Society of Edson to ensure that they meet our high standards for quality care. These providers play a critical role in offering a nurturing, safe, and stimulating environment for children in their care.
